The Queen Mary Centre is a large community centre in the heart of Wisbech. It's a great space to get involved in something fun as a variety of clubs, groups and activities run out of the building.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it's a great place to meet other people
  • staff and volunteers will be happy to signpost you to other services if you need support
  • you can get involved in activities or relax with a coffee

What to expect

Some of the activities in the Centre include:

LEADA - Linda runs both her singing groups for Adults Viva La Voce and her Drama Club which is a performing arts groups for young people from this venue; as well as running workshops throughout the summer holidays.

Friday Lunch Club - Friday Lunch Club runs 12pm - 2pm every Friday and is open to those aged ideally over 60 and live in the Wisbech area. There will be a light meal available as well as hot drinks, music, crafts, games and others who you can chat with. The lunch club costs £1 each for the sandwich option or £3 for teh jacket potato option. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book - we hope to see you soon.

Citizens Advice Bureau Over 55's information drop in. Every Tuesday they have a walk-in session to give advice to those over 55. If you have a problem or a question and you are over 55, please come along to this session. No need to book an appointment, just drop in.

Citizen Advice Booked Appointments: They are an independent charity providing expert information and advice to the residents of Rural Cambridgeshire. Their volunteer Gateway Assessors and Advisers are trained by their own training team to the highest standards to delivery this information and advice through multiple channels including email, telephone, face to face and web chat. More information

The building is generally open to the public between 9 am - 5pm.  On entering there is a small reception desk where a member of the team will greet you and direct you to the appropriate place.

The Queen Mary Centre is wheelchair accessible and also has disabled toilet facilities on site. There is disabled parking to the side of the building, right next to a ramp that leads in through a side door. A hearing induction loop is fitted in the main hall.

There is free parking in Sommers road car park which is next to the building.

Since 2013 the centre has ben run by the Ferry Project, Cambridgeshire County Council and The Kings Trust.

 

The Community Cafe is run on a donation basis and the Swap Don't Shop event is free to attend.

Individual groups & activities that operate from the Centre may charge per session, please check with organisers for details.

The venue can be hired by services, clubs and groups.  The hall can also be hired out for events. Contact the Queen Mary Centre for up to date prices and availability.
