What to Expect

When you reach out to Wisbech Access Group, one of the committee members will tell you about the group and let you know when their next meeting is.

When you arrive at the meeting you will be greeted by Lucinda or one of the other committee members, you will be asked to complete a membership form, and you will be advised where the toilets are.

The meetings usually last for 2 hours. They review any actions from the last meeting, before any guest speakers are invited to talk. The rest of the committee then talks about any previous work committed in the last month, any future plans or events for the group, as well as business items for the running of the group. There is chance in the break to chat to other members, and there is a chance to speak throughout the meeting.

The venue for the meeting is currently the Queen Mary Centre. There is limited disabled car parking at the side of the building. The building also has a wheelchair accessible door at the side of the building. There is a café in the Queen Mary Centre if you wish to purchase refreshments.

Wisbech Access Group works with anyone—whether you’re a person with a disability, a carer, family member, friend, or an organisation looking to make a difference. They give a voice to those living with or caring for someone with a disability, and they advocate for those who don’t feel confident speaking out.

They collaborate with businesses, charities, voluntary groups, and individuals, nobody is excluded. Using lived experience, they gather recommendations to help improve accessibility and create inclusive environments. They also educate and raise awareness for those who seek advice, and where appropriate, step in to encourage positive change.
