The Good Neighbour Medical Loans Scheme

Back to Support

The Good Neighbour Medical Loans Scheme is a volunteer run scheme that allows people to loan equipment such as wheelchairs, commodes, walking aids, and chair raisers in return for a donation.

The Good Neighbour Medical Loans Scheme is run by a very small number of volunteers. Wheelchairs, commodes, walking aids, chair raisers etc are all available for loan in return for a donation. People living in the local area who can collect equipment can access this scheme.

The service relies on donations to further support their work and help maintain and clean the equipment in between uses. They are not part of the NHS or any other statutory body.

Please call them on 01354 695154 to make an enquiry. If the aid you require is available, they will arrange a suitable date and time for collection from 58 Westbourne Road PE16 6HQ.

You will need to provide proof of name and address and sign an agreement form for the loan of the equipment. This covers a disclaimer saying you are using the items at your own risk, plus agree to look after it and clean it before returning it to them.

A normal loan period is a maximum of two months. If you require an item for a longer period, they suggest contact the NHS via your GP or hospital consultant, or look at purchasing equipment. Under some special circumstances, they may allow loans for longer periods, providing regular contact is maintained.

This scheme requires a donation for equipment loan.

This scheme sometimes takes donations of equipment, but please contact them to enquire if they require the item.
