What to expect
StepChange has been helping people across the UK for more than 30 years with a free debt advice service, information and support. They can help you manage your debt by setting up a debt management solution that is appropriate for your individual circumstances. They can also work with you to explore ways to reduce your spending and increase your income.
The easiest way to start dealing with debt is to use the free StepChange online debt advice and support service. It's available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can do it at a time that suits you, and you can pause and come back to it later.
Alternatively, you can speak to an adviser by calling 0800 138 1111 from Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. The adviser will ask you about what you are dealing with so they can understand what help is right for you and give you a plan to deal with your debts. You will get tailored advice based on your circumstances. They won't judge you and all information is confidential.
If you need someone to speak to StepChange on your behalf, you can download and complete a 'letter of authority' here, emailing it back to StepChange on this link.
There's also lots of information and resources on the StepChange website.
