What to Expect:
CAMMS Meals On Wheels delivers nutritious food to people in Cambridge, villages in South Cambs, St Neots, St Ives, Ely, Littleport, Chatteris and March and surrounding area. Please contact CAMMS Meals on Wheels to check if they deliver where you live.
There are no eligibility criteria for having meals delivered. Some people register who require a couple of meals of week and would like a break from cooking their own lunch now and again, others for short periods of time, perhaps following illness or injury, and some of their clients enjoy daily meal deliveries if they are perhaps less able to cook or shop easily.
For new customers you are advised to contact CAMMS Meals on Wheels over the phone so that they can register you as a 'new client' on their computer system.
Their main communication is through their drivers who will give menus to customers or the persons responsible for ordering every fortnight, informing and confirming the meal choice.
They offer a two course lunch (a hot meal and a desert, or a soup and a main meal) out of choice of four mains and four desserts (or a soup) every day that repeats every four weeks with a flexibility of menus for differing dietary needs.
Customers can order as many or as few meals per week as they wish. CAMMS Meals on Wheels do not offer free trial; however, cancelations are accepted at any time if you no longer need the service.
More information:
CAMMS Meals on wheels aims to help people of all ages and in all situations enjoy a happy and healthy life at home.
As an independent charity not linked to social services, care organisations or health carers they also provide a 'watchful eye' service on your behalf or on behalf of your relative, calling a friend or loved one with your permission if you are not well or unexpectedly not at home. Their Customer Liaison Drivers get to know their customers well and are often the first to spot a problem even if it is just noticing that someone is a little out of sorts. A telephone call to the office ensures that someone will be contacted quickly.
In addition to meals for individuals, there is also a luncheon meal service to care homes, churches, village halls and to Age UK Day Centres.
This is a paid for service. Please check with CAMMS Meals on Wheels for up to date prices. Fees are payable by bank transfer, card payments over the phone, or by cheque. They do not take direct debit or cash payments.
