Wisbech Gallery

Back to Activities

The Wisbech Gallery is an art gallery in the centre of Wisbech, showcasing the work of a variety of artists and medias. The project is a collaboration between The Ferry Project and Blackfield Creatives.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it’s an opportunity to learn about local creatives
  • it can expand your imagination by seeing creative works by other people
  • it can inspire you to create your own art

Blackfield Creatives manage the gallery spaces in partnership with the Ferry Project, who own the building, to deliver exhibitions and workshops. Both teams recognise the benefits and value that the arts can bring to the community, in terms of both cultural experiences and improving health and wellbeing.

On entering the gallery you will be greeted by a member of the team manning the reception desk. You can ask questions about the gallery and current pieces of art on show.  If you’re an individual, you can drop in when the gallery is open. For groups, please contact Blackfield Creatives to book a time.

There is free parking behind the gallery at the Somers Road Car Park. The gallery is fully accessible and does have a lift to the first floor, however there is a step up from the main road to the main entrance, so wheelchair users may be directed to another entrance.

Please check their Facebook page or website for opening times.

More Information

The Ferry Project is an award-winning social enterprise and registered charity which helps homeless people in Fenland. Keith Smith, Director of the Ferry Project said, “We have carried out several joint projects with Blackfield Creatives and have seen for ourselves the change art can bring to people lives. This partnership will allow both the general public and our clients to experience the benefit that engaging with art can bring to our wellbeing. Many of the people we support have major challenges to face and art can help them to cope better with the pressure those challenges bring. We are fortunate to have a beautiful building and want to share this wonderful space with the whole community. “

Blackfield Creatives is lead by Tim and Jenny. They are not just passionate about arts and creativity, they are also passionate about the local community and have run numerous projects to improve local spaces through art.

If you want to keep up to date with other projects from Blackfield Creatives, please visit their Facebook page or click here.
