Whittlesey Town Bowls Club is an outdoor bowls team that play games between spring into autumn. They are a small & friendly club who welcome beginners and experienced players of all ages.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • You will be able to make new friends with members of the club.
  • The game is mentally stimulating as it is a competitive sport encouraging team work between players.
  • It can help you keep physically active and get out in the fresh air.

What to expect: 

This particular sport is played in the summer months however members have access to club activities during the winter, with a regular board game night on Mondays, quiz nights and Whist night regular on a Friday evening.

The Club have a new player open event early in spring and all training in how to play the game is provided; they welcome new members who have or have never bowled.

Initially the only equipment needed is flat soled shoes, grey trousers or shorts and a white top. The club does have a uniform shirt which is available to purchase as players settle into the game.

Parking is permitted on street and at the Queen Street Medical Practice car park in the evenings and at weekends, their clubhouse has toilet facilities and changing rooms. They also have a kitchen with drinks, usually available in season.

All facilities are accessible.

Whittlesey Town Bowls Club is a long established lawn bowling club, formed in 1920,  based in the heart of the beautiful Fenland Town of Whittlesey, just a short walk from the Town Centre.

They are a friendly and welcoming club that offers competitive, league and social bowling.

They have a mature and excellently tended green which is home to four rinks. This is complimented with a pavilion that was opened in 2000. This houses male and female locker rooms, toilet facilities, a small kitchen and club house.

The club occasionally holds free taster days in the spring.

The club has several types of membership for social, casual and full members. Please speak to the team about up to date fees.

Membership is payable as are registration fees when playing in one of their league teams or competitions, each game has a rink or game fee.
The quiz night has an entry fee, the Whist (card game) has a small entry fee as do the board game nights, this includes a tea or coffee.
