Referrals must come from a GP and have had an initial assessment by the Primary Care Mental Health Service. Referrals can also be made by mental health services in CPFT.
More details on the referral process can be found on the CPFT website.
CLASS is a team of multidisciplinary professionals with administrative support . You will be informed about which clinician(s) you will be meet as part of your assessment when you get your appointment letter. You will be asked if you need any adjustments to make your appointment accessible.
Referrals must be first be made by a GP (within the Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust area (CPFT)), to the Primary Care Mental Health Service (PCMHS).
PCMHS will complete an initial screening assessment and provide information about support available while waiting for an assessment of possible autism if this is appropriate.
Mental health services in CPFT can also make referrals to CLASS. CLASS does not accept referrals for young people under the age of 18 years or people who may have a global intellectual disability. The service only accepts diagnostic assessment referrals.
The CLASS clinic is also involved in service evaluation and clinical research in order to improve the service they provide. They may contact you to invite you to take part in clinical research as part of your referral to the service.
For individuals who receive an autism diagnosis at CLASS the service can offer time-limited post-diagnostic support and psychoeducation. Referrals cannot be accepted specifically for post-diagnostic support.
For more information about autism in adults, please go to the National Autistic Society website and the NHS conditions website.
