Wisbech Child and Family Centres

Back to Activities

Wisbech Child & Family Centres offer groups, activities, courses, and support for families with children aged 0-19. Running Activities from the Oasis Child and Family Centre and Wisbech South Child and Family Centre, as well as other local community venues.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • The centre facilitates parents and carers building friendships and sharing experiences to foster positive mental health.
  • They actively promote best practise for child and family health and wellbeing.
  • Families can be signposted to access alternative services who are able to give more specific health and wellbeing support.

‘All of the staff are lovely, they are so knowledgeable, always supportive help and very welcoming.’

‘It’s the most brilliant ‘mother’s hub’ and I look forward to it every week. I have been going since my baby was 8 weeks old, and now he’s 16 months! It’s the best baby/toddler group I’ve been to, and my son and I love going so so much. I’ve made friends for life there!’

What to expect:

On entering the child and family centre you will be greeted by the receptionist, they will help you sign in and be happy to give you any information you may need.   They can explain what activities are available and how to book on. If you have an appointment with any of the staff they will let the person know you are there.

Sessions usually take place at the Child and Family Centres premises. Some sessions take place within the local community, so it is worth double checking when you book.

You are welcome to call the centre if you have any questions before hand.

More information:

Whilst a lot of the support available is for new parents and young children, the Child and Family Centres welcome families with children up to 19 years of age. Staff at the centres may be able to support directly or will signpost you to other appropriate sources of advice and support.

Wisbech Child and Family Centres offer a huge range of activities, support and advice. What’s on offer will vary a little from one centre to the next but the following are examples of what to expect:

  • Stay and play for children up to 5yrs
  • Baby sensory sessions
  • Introducing solids workshop
  • Health Visitor Clinic
  • Baby self-weigh drop-in
  • Peer support for fathers and male carers of young children
  • Something on a Saturday stay and play for working parents
  • Tiny Teeth sessions to support dental hygiene
  • Wellbeing buggy walks

There is a small cost (usually £2) for regular activities such as stay & play sessions. This money will be reinvested and helps the children centre to continue to provide fun and engaging activities and provide materials and equipment for the sessions. Occasional activities may be free and course costs vary so check with the centre for info. Wisbech Child and Family Centres aim to avoid cost being prohibitive to anyone benefitting from their services so if you are on a low income do let them know.
